Artist statement
My goal is to create works of art that evoke emotions. I use colours to emulate moods or feelings that are personally significant to me. I want to create art that people can connect with.
I have visited art galleries in France, Italy, the Netherlands, across Canada and The US to study different art styles and techniques. I'm inspired by art that pulls you back in back to take a second look or stop and stare for a while to appreciate fine, intricate details.
I hope to create art that lingers in the mind and makes others feel the same awe that I have experienced while appreciating the beauty of artwork from around the world.
Biography
Born in Calgary, Alberta in 2002, I have been painting and drawing since I was young, beginning art classes at eight years old, and continuing with classes in high school and at the University of British Columbia.
I primarily use acrylic paint, some water colour, as well as pencils and charcoal. I began with pencil drawings of people and animals, and then transitioned to landscape paintings inspired from nature I've seen and/or pictures that I or others have taken.
I gave away most of my paintings as gifts for family and friends, but I began doing commissioned landscape paintings — including the creation of two illustrations for the GSS Graduate Education Report Video Project for the University of British Columbia.
